3 Year Old With Swelling On The Forehead After A Fall. CT Scan Normal. Worried

ok i have a 3 year old and he fell i took him to the er when it happen because it happened on a company lot but i dont remmber him hitting his head in the front he sraped his hesd on the side and then back of head i dont rember him hitting his head in the front and two days later his forehead is swollen i took him back to the er and they did a cat scan and said evrything is fine but what would of caused his forehead to swell after he fell and didnt see it the night he fell now it is in his eyelids

Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The swelling on his forehead is due to accumulation of blood in the scalp because of trauma which is called hematoma.

The hematoma is formed due to rupture of small blood vessels in the scalp layers caused by the trauma impact.

Due to presence of loose tissue around the eyes and dependent area, the blood gradually displaces downward leading to appearance of swelling of the eye lids.

You can apply ice pack.

For pain you can give ibuprofen in prescribed dosage.
