My name is Farhana Rahman. I am 32 weeks pregnant with twins. I am concerned about my weight . At 28 wks it was 80 kg, both babies were more than 1.6kg each. I developed GDM at 24 wks and taking insulin with good controls. I had a bowel disturbance that lasted for a week in the last week. Now i am feeling fine with my bowels but my wt is 79 kg for the last 2 weeks. Is it really serious at this level?
Hi,
during pregnancy weight gain will be there. In singleton pregnancy it will be around 10 to 12 kgs.
This weight gain will be more with twin pregnancy.
the weight of pregnant woman will also influenced by her pre pregnancy weight. You didn't mentioned your height by which we can calculate your BMI. It should be between 19 to 24.
Whereas you are having gestational diabetes. Excessive weight will cause problems in getting adequate control of blood sugar.
Not only during pregnancy weight will affect the delivery also. Leading to prolonged labor, instrumental delivery sometimes cesarean section.
So, try to control your weight by doing minor exercises like walking morning and evening for around 30 min. If your weight gets controlled your insulin injection dose also decreases.
maternal diabetes can affect the baby also by causing macrosomia.
take care
