3rd Degree Hemorrhoids, Stapled Haemorrhoidectomy Or Open Haemorrhoidectomy ?
Hi Doctor My father is suffering from Hemorrhoids of 3rd degree (Written on prescription slip by doctor:-lapse primary int. pils, free pils). Now the confusion arises whether to go for Stapler haemorrhoidectomy or Open haemorrhoidectomy. I have consulted 2 doctors. Doctor at Army Base Hospital Delhi Cantt suggested for Open haemorrhoidectomy as permanent solution while other suggested Stapler haemorrhoidectomy. Please guide providing pros & cons of both techniques. Regards Vicky
Hi.
Stapled procedure is not suitable for grade 3 piles. It may be suitable for 1st and 2nd degree piles. Moreover, this is a new procedure dependent on instrumentation and consequently its success will depend on the quality of instrument and experience of the surgeon performing the procedure. It will be more expensive as well due to the cost of the instrument involved. I would agree with the Army Surgeon and suggest a traditional open operation (time-tested).
Thanks.
Wish your father a good health.
