4 Year Daughter, Fever, Sleepy, Pain In Head, Visible Dark Blue Vein. Refusing To Take Calpol
My 4 year old daughter has a high temp around 39 degrees she is sleepy and generally not herself, I have just put her to bed she is saying her head hurts and I noticed from her temple upwards she has really visable dark blue veins which you can't normally see. See if refusing calpol also should I be worried or just keep an eye on her and hope it passes? Thanks
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. High temperature should be brought down immediately in children. Other wise it may lead to febrile convulsions. If she is not accepting calpol, you can do tepid sponging repeatedly till the temperature comes down. Once the temperature comes down she will be more comfortable and she will accept calpol as well as other medicines prescribed by the doctor. If it is a viral fever it passes off spontaneously. Otherwise you better consult a pediatrician. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
