4 Year Old With Injured Vein On The Neck. Lump Formed With Pain. What To Do?
my 4 yrs old son, i suspected that he hurt his vein at his neck, aligned at the both ears since i noticed the small lump. I reckoned it could be from playing at the slides where he slid upside down (head went first not the legs). He doesn't look weak, he still remain active but, I'm worried because everytime I asked him if it hurts (pointing to the lump) he answered yes. What would I do?
I think you mean he injured his muscle or tendon, not vein. A vein is a blood vessel. A nerve might be what you meant? In any case, if there is no limitation to his activity and neck movements, you can simply give him ibuprofen syrup for pain, about 5-10 ml depending on his weight (5 ml for 10 kg, 10 ml for 20 kg).
Tell him to avoid sudden neck movements and then go to a doctor within the next 24 hours just to be on the safe side. Nothing else needs to be done unless he has restriction of neck movements, external bleeding or some other unfamiliar symptom.
