Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 yr old has been throwing up for 18.5 hrs. She can t keep water or apple juice down. She has no appetite, which is fine right now. How long can she go before needing medical attention, dehydration, etc..
I had the same problems with my 3 yr old son, I did take him to the dr. and they told me to give him 1/2 oz. of clear liquids every half hour and if he continued to throw up take him or call the dr. to get iv fluids.. i would not wait much longer try pushing on her finger tip it will turn white and count how long it takes to turn back pink.. she is dehydrated if it takes longer than 2 or 3 seconds to turn back... hope that helps
Hi,
Thanks for query,
18 hours are long time you keep your child with vomiting,
It is possible that by this time he might developed dehydration.
Now do not wait more and take him to ER for IV fluid therapy.
First we should correct dehydration and then the cause i.e infection.
Ok and bye.
