6 Months Old, Vomiting, Green Colored Stool. Taking Breast Milk, Not Having Any Other Food. Suggestions?
hello i'm based in chandigarh. my daughter is 6 months old on 20th apr. for the past few days she is passing green stool earlier it was dark green but now it is light green. not totally watery . from last three days she is vomitting too. one two vomitings in a day but one is heavy vomit. she is on breast feed only we are trying to give her other foods now but not taking anything not even water
you is daughter is probably suffering from viral gastroenteritis. don't worry she will recover soon, meanwhile continue breastfeeding, give oral rehydration solution (ORS) 50-100ml per each episode of vomiting or diarrhoea.
if problem persists for more than a week, or she is not breastfeeding or her urine output is low, consult a pediatrician immediately.
take care,
Dr. Balaji Chinnasami, MD
Assistant Professor- Pediatrics
If your daughter is six month old then you should start her with other feeds.
Start with a new item and add new food item weekly.
Green color of the stool is because of increased bowel motility and is not of much significance.
Continue to give her breast feeding. I congratulate you for breast feeding your baby.
