7 Year Old Child, Having Leg Pain, Red Splotchy Area On Thighs And Knees. Anything To Worry?
My granddaughter is 7 and the past couple of days has complained of her legs hurting. I noticed a red splotchy area on her thighs and knees. It isn't a rash nor does it itch. She does not have a fever, but her knees are a little warm when hurting. I'm guessing it is growing pains, but am concerned about the red splotches. Is there any reason for concern???
I would like to know how do the legs hurt. Do they pain while walking or the pain is continuous? How does the pain get relieved. Since the knees are hurting a detailed clinical examination of the knee joint is required. You are mentioning that there are red areas on the thigh which do not itch. In this situation it becomes essential that blood investigations are done to rule out bleeding disorder which may explain both the red areas and knee pain.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
painful warm knee joint with red spots may be due to arthritis. i have to examine her knee joint first, if necessary we may have to take blood investigations. take oral paracetamol(appropriate dose) for 2 days. if still pain is persisting consult ur primary pediatrician.
