70,osteoporosis,hip Injury.

I fell hard on my hip 2 1/2 weeks ago on wet tile while walking. (Why in the world did they put a glazed tile insert in the cement of a shopping center?) My bruise and tenderness are on the hip bone above upper leg a couple of inches in back of my side, definitely not on the fatty rear. I do have severe osteoporosis but friends said I would not have been able to walk on it, if it were broken. I was surprised I could walk on it since I break so easy. I have a compression fracture of T11 six months ago that I still have a LOT of pain from, but can't see any difference in my back since the fall. I am over 70. I have not had an x-ray or MRI. My pain is in my hip and groin. It's better in the morning when I get up. When I sit on it for a couple of minutes or more, sometimes it hurts so much, and feels like it really doesn't want to hold me. I am not overweight, have a 2 story house and can do stairs, but it is surely not getting better! Yes, yes, I suppose i need am MRI and maybe my friends could be wrong about not being able to walk on a fracture, especially hairline?
It's so strange to me that the pain varies so much. Sometimes bad, sometimes not so bad. Once I walk the distance of a room or two, it's not as bad. I realize I may have strained my groin in the fall. I realize I shouldn't be so stubborn about going to a doctor, and I have good insurance. Sometimes it seems to be getting worse. Maybe I shouldn't be walking on it anymore than necessary. If I walk on a fracture, could it cause it not to heal? Five years ago I pulled my upper arm apart and the doctor said he was very concerned about it healing since my bones won't hold the pins to put a rod in. Maybe what I need is a kick in the butt: to go to the doctor and get an MRI. Thanks for listening.

hi there
i am not sure what to say
you have said everything i needed to say

i think you need an xray atleast if not an mri
i think you should take some rest and not walk too much
i think you know your friend is wrong, sometimes after a fracture the ends of bone get impacted or simply put they hinge into each other, and allow you to walk without causing much pain. this also explains why you may have variable degrees of pain
i think you should meet an orthopedician immediately

so whats left is that you need someone to kick your butt (as you put so eloquently). i am sorry, i am not that kind of a dr. i just put your nose towards the right direction.
i think you should kick the butt of your friend for being wrong, and then she can kick your butt to get to a dr.

i am sorry if any part of the answer was rough (language wise) lady (i am assuming lady because they usually have more severe osteoporosis, and ladies tend to bear more pain and neglect their own health- my apologies if my inference was wrong)

best of luck
