8 Piriton Tablets In 12 Hours,is It Serious?

Hi Rather stupidly I have taken 8 piritons in the last 12 hours because I wasn t sure of the dosage. I took 2 around 6 last night, another 2 when I went to bed at 8.30, another two in the middle of night and another two this morning along with 2 sinutabs and 1 paracetamol . Should I worry, or will it just work it s way out my system.

Hi there,
Piriton contains Chlorpheniramine maleate 4mg. That means you had around 8x4 that is 32mg piriton in 12 hours.The max recommended dose is 24mg in 24 hrs. The common side effects are sedation, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth etc. However I dont think you would be suffering from symptoms of overdose. Do not take alcohol along with piriton. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery while on piriton. I am sure your body will flush out the drug. Stop taking piriton for the day as you have already exceeded the maximum recommended dosage.
Please visit your doctor / post your health query. Consuming a lot of medications without knowing the dosage is very dangerous.
