8 Year Old, Pea Sized Lump In Top Of Hand, Painful. Suggestions?

Hi, my 8 year old (who will be 9 in a month) has a small, nearly pea sized lump on the top of her hand. It's near the wrist, but not quite on the wrist.
We noticed it last weekend and she said it was quite painful. She didn't complain at the beginning of this week, but told me today it was getting more painful. When I looked at it, it seemed slightly smaller.
Should I take her to her doctor?
Thanks,
E.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Usually a ganglion forms on the tendons on the dorsum of the wrist which may or may not be painful. I suggest you get the swelling examined by a doctor and then follow the guidance.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
