9 Month Old Son. CBC Done. Is The Result Normal For Infants?
Hi Doctor,
My son is 9 months old and his CBC was done today. Results showed WBC count of 7000 c/cmm and other details are as below:
Neutrophil 31 %
Lymphocyte 63 %
Eosinophil 03 %
Monocyte 03 %
Basophil 00 %
RBC Count 4.4 m/cmm
His Neutrophil level is low and his lymphocyte is high. Is this normal in infants?
Hi! infants have high percentage of lymphocytes and their absolut lymphocyte count varies from 3500 to 9000 cells/cmm .your son is having perfectly normal CBC and his lymphocyte and neutrophils both are well within normal range.so no need to worry!
first i would like to know for what purpose you have done this cbc. total wbc count is within normal range only. but there is slight increase in lymphocyte count which can occur in viral fevers.

9 Month Old Son. CBC Done. Is The Result Normal For Infants?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. The report you sent is not having the hemoglobin level without it the interpretation of CBC report is incomplete. The WBC count is normal. Lymphocytes will predominate than neutrophils in infants and children, so elevated lymphocyte count in this report can be taken as normal. But this report should be correlated with the clinical findings of the child. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
