9 Year Kid, Having Fever, Stomach Pain, Vomiting. Taking Paracetmaol, Not Getting Better. Should He Change Medication?
My son is 9 year old. He has fever since yesterday, feel better after a dose of paracetamol but gets it again. Today morning he had pain in his stomach and had one loose motion and vomited once. Again in the evening he had a pain in his stomach and did a loose motion. Any thing to worry about. Does he need any medication or just paracetamol to control his fever. Fever is with headache and also he feels cold. Pls advise
Hi Thanks for your query. Your child is having fever with gastroenteritis which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days. Continue with paracetamol if fever is above 100F every 6 hourly. In case of persistant vomiting he may need antiemetic like domperidone in prescribed dosage. Give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool, give lemonade.coconut water, curd, banana, boiled potato, rice porridge. so as to maintain hydration and nutrition.
If symptoms gets aggravated get him evaluated by pediatrician for further management.
