Abdominal Cramping, Bowels Has Gas And Mucus Type Discharge. Had Hot Chilly Pepper. Recommendations?

Hi. Yesterday after eating some hot chilli pepper chilli I developed moderate abdominal cramping, accompanied by the constant urge to move my bowels. But whenever I went to move my bowels only gas and mucus type discharge would come out. It has continued over to today, I'm continuing to have abdominal crapping, a lot of gas and only moved my bowels twice alothough I'm going about 10 x a day. The mucus like discharge persists but just now it's starting to have a small amount of blood mixed with it causing the discharge to look pink. I also was taking antibiotic (penicillin) about 3 days ago, but stopped after 4 doses because of the GI upset it caused.

Hello! I hope you may be well now. One thing I am not able to understand why you were taking antibiotics?.If this problem of passing blood mixed with mucus occurred after taking antibiotics suggest that it may be due to antibiotic associated diarrhoea or a disease known as pseudomembranous colitis for which you require to visit a Gastroenterologist who may ask you investigations like stool culture, stool examination routine microscopy, stool for clostridium difficle toxin and accordingly you can be treated. Further if these all are negative then he may ask you to undergo at least sigmoidoscopy examination to see for the cause of blood in stool. Also penicillin should be discontinued, and a corse of probiotic is also required. I hope this suggestions will solve your problem. Please remain in touch. Get well soon
