Addicted To Prescribed Rivotril For Panic Disorder, Insomnia, Feeling Of Sore Throat. Planning To Come Off. Help With Reduced Dosage?
I took .25 mg of rivotril during daytime and bedtime for 8 days.. and then i stopped abruptly. After a few days i started having sleeping problems. Really cant sleep unless i take . 25mg of rivotril again. Now i want to fully stop this med. Can i do this for like taking .25mg of rivotril every other night? Thanks a lot. Btw i only experience insomnia and little muscle pain plus a sore throat like feeling. I was diagnosed with rivotril coz of panic / anxiety disorder but i have decided to cure myself naturally...
It is good to know that you wish to stop it. Taking it on alternate nights may work, but you can also try taking half of 0.25mg daily for sometime before stopping. Since you had taken Rivotril for only a few weeks, you will not find it too difficult to quit. Please also practice good sleep hygiene techniques, like avoiding tea or coffee in the evenings, keeping regular hours, eating a light meal at least two hours before sleep, keeping the bedroom clean and silent etc. These will help overcome insomnia.
The other thing is that Rivotril is not the definitive treatment for panic disorder. It should be taken only for a short duration while other medications have not started working or to abort a panic attack once it has begun. So please discuss with your doctor regarding first line treatment approaches like medications belonging to SSRI group (sertraline, paroxetine etc.) which will be more safe and effective and have no dependence potential.
Hope this helps you.
Best wishes.
