Administered Vesicare For Frequent Urination. Can The Medicine Be Split In Order To Reduce The Dosage?
My husband has been on Vesicare 5 mg for months. He has been tolerating it pretty well but still gets up to urinate about 3 times a night. His internist suggested he go to 10 mg a day, but since 30 tablets cost $220.00 I hesitate to buy them in case he can't tolerate the 10 mg. Would it be possible to split a 10 mg in case he needs to return to the 5 mg?
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband is taking Tab Vesicare 5mg for Over Active Bladder .Since he still has nocturia (3 times ) he needs to increase the dose to 10 mg.
However please consult qualified urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and ultrasound scanning of the abdomen to assess the size of the prostate and volume of the post void residual urine.
He may need to modify treatment depending upon the size of the prostate and symptoms score due to enlarged prostate.
The tablet of 10 mg can be split into two equal half if need arises to shift to take 5 mg again.
Thanks and Regards.
