Advise On MRI Of Lumbar Spine

MRI LUMBER SPINE : There is a relatively large central focal disc prolapse at L5-S1,indenting the anterior surface of the thecal sac, and probably reaching the left sided root.it also causes a sagnificant degree of canal stenosis.other disks appear healthy.

Thanks for writing in.

You seem to be having degenerative changes in the intervertebral disc (spongy tissue between vertebral bones) in your lower back region at the level of vertebrae L 5 and S 1. These discs are small flat structures which has got prolapsed into the spinal canal posteriorly and is causing pressure effects on the left nerve root in your case. It is one of the commonest areas of disc degeneration.

You should should take medications after consulting a neurologist and avoid heavy physical activity.
