Advised To Take Dulculax For 2 Scope Procedures, Entire Bottle Of Miralax. Stomach Looks Stapled. Do I Need These ?

i am having two scope procedures tomorrow. My instructions were to take Dulculax tablets , two doses this evening....to take the entire bottle of MIRALAX mixed with clear liquids which is 14 doses!! and then to drink the entire 10 0z bottle of mag sulfate. I have been on this and clear liquids all day today...( had some chicken broth earlier) the procedure is at 10 am tomorrow...or today now. Anyway...I didnt even eat much or heavy yesterday. Had soup for lunch and like four bites of meat and 4-5 bites of potato last night, some crackers for a snack. My concern or problem is that I had my stomach stapled and my stomach is about the size of 3 ozs and I NEVER can drink large amounts of liquids, as I can not eat a lot either and lately less than ever and cant ever keep it down. ( part of reason having this procedure done.) I tried to tell this dr about that and that I couldnt drink these large amts they were asking and that I dont have the reg amounts of food in my body to begin with to get rid of!! I just can not get all this liquid down...and in the last few hours I have had severe cramps and just not feeling well at all. I just dont feel like i have the food in me to justify all these laxatives? what do you think on this.... can you give me any advice?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

You need to know that large intestine and small intestine is about 8 meters long. Approximate time for the food to pass whole digestive system is 2-3 days. In case of constipation it can take even a week. All of this makes large intestines full of stool (even if you dont eat much). To make a good colonoscopy, intestine needs to be completely clean. Without medicines you have been prescribed, it is impossible to clean bowels.
However if you dont feel well after this medicines and cant take any more of them, you may take a risk and stop taking them. At worse, colonoscopy will fail.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
