Always Had Long Menstrual Cycles, Sudden Bleeding Clots No Like Normal Periods, Took Epidural. Is It Side Effect ?
I am 45 and have always had long menstrual cycles. Noticed that in my 40s it became more regular and shorter. My last period came very early about a 26 days' cycle (very unusual for me). It was a normal period lasting 7 days. But after five days I started bleeding again, but not a like normal period< i am passing some blood clots and each time im am wiping myself there is blood (not brown). I suffer from back pain and recently (end of May) I had an caudal injection . The first period after my epidural injection was normal cycle. I am worried that it might be something serious. or is it the side effects of the steroid or am I pre-menopausal?
Hi, As per your symptoms, it appears as though you are suffering from hormonal imbalance and considering your age, it could be considered an usual happening as you are in to peri-menopause. Yet, you would need a complete evaluation by a gynecologist as is normally recommended at this age, a trans-vaginal sonogram and blood counts and urinalysis. You may need a hormonal profile as well. Epidural anesthesia has not been reported to cause menorrhagic cycles. Hope this helps. Take care.
