Anxiety. Taking Prozac. Having Chest Pain, Loos Of Breath And Over Weight. Cause Of Chest Pain?

I deal with anxiety. I take 20 mg of Prozac everyday. Im 13 and have been dealing with chest pain for the last week. If I move a certain way the pain can get worse and If I take a deep breath it hurts more. It doesn't hurt all the time. It's on and off. I have a doctors appointment this Wednesday for a check up on my anxiety. It has been getting worse and Im getting depression. I cry for no reason. I was put in as emergency for therapy otherwise I wasn't gonna get in until August. My anxiety got so bad the other day my mom had to call the doctor to get something to calm me down. I took 1 Xanax. It worked. Im overweight and I didn't have the best deist before now Im trying to eat healthy and exercise everyday. What do you think the chest pain is caused from? It seems Iike it gets worse when I think about it too. Please help.

Hi.
Prozac is Fluoxetine, which is a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (antidepressant). Xanaxa is alprazolam, a benzodiazepine- group sedative drug.
Both the medications have been prescribed to deal with your symptoms of anxiety, depression and sleeplessness.
Again, chest pain at the age of 13 might be due to a number of causes. We have a greater possibility of them being a manifestation of anxiety in your case. Nevertheless, the pain needs to be assessed adequately, as there might be other causes as well like local trauma or muscle sprains during exercises etc.

Honor your appointment with your doctor, and when you meet him/her the next time, discuss this in detail. if it worsens, consult a physician in the meanwhile.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history.

Chest pain might be due to
- As a symptom of anxiety
- Heartburn caused by fluoxetine

You should consult psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and management. Treatment would be directed as per cause.

Doctor may advise you to take antacids or may switch over to other anti anxiety agents like sertaline or peroxetine.

You may get benefit by doing stress management and relaxation therapy like yoga, meditation or breathing exercise.

Thanks.
