Anxiety Attacks, Depression, Sweating, Mood Swings After Complete Hysterectomy. Possible Reason?

Jst curious, I had a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago. I'm not on any hormones and was feeling ok up until about 2 months ago. Now I'm having anxiety attacks, depression, sweating all the time, mood swings, irritability, you name it I'm having it. Was wondering if drs are still giving hormone shots to make me feel better quickly instead of waiting for a pill to get into my system.

Psychologist 's  Response
Dear
Welcome to HCM
We understand your concerns

You are doing very well after hysterectomy. Your condition is much better than any other person who underwent hysterectomy. There fore don't worry. You can always depend on medicines which are much more effective and safe. But that may not be enough. Go for psychotherapy and meditation and yoga. Find a psychotherapist or psychologist for further advice. I can help you online if you desire so.

Radiologist Dr. Vivek Chail's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is important to know if your ovaries were also removed during complete hysterectomy. Your present age is also important because you may be experiencing significant hormonal imbalances in your body which normally happen during the sixth decade.

Irritability, loneliness, extreme moods are all seen even in normal women.

I suggest you consult your gynecologist and take any further short term medications if felt necessary.

Hope this helps.

General & Family Physician Dr. Sumanth Mallikarjuna Majgi's  Response
hi,
i am interested to know the reason for hysterectomy, nature of hysterectomy (whether even ovaries are removed?) and your age. if you already had menopause then, possible that symptoms are due to the withdrawal of hormones. hence, you may need HRT. if you are not yet menopause, then this would be unrelated, as hormones are still secreted by ovaries.

wish you good health

Psychiatrist Dr. Sundar Gnanavel's  Response
Hello.......
Thanks for your query. Hysterectomy leads to a deficiency of estrogen hormone that results in hot flushes or anxiety symptoms that you are describing. The treatment consists of either estrogen hormone replacement, SNRI group of drugs like venlafaxine and vitamine-E supplements/ primrose oil. Mood swings, irritability, depression and anxiety symptoms are all part of the hot flushes. Wish you speedy recovery.
Regards
