Any Suggestion For Low BP, Flutter In Throat During Pregnancy When Taking Metoprolol?
I am 35 years old, 32 weeks pregnant & have been taking metoporol for sinus tachycardia since october 31st of 2013. This week, my o .b said my blood pressure is low, now im taking only taking half of my medication per day. I also have a flutter in my throat. What should i do ?
You had a tachycardia and were taking metoprolol. But now the dose has been decreased due to low blood pressure.
You have a flutter now. this may be due to the tachycardia coming back after decreasing the dose. It is best to see a cardiologist and get an ECG to look for the heart. Normally blood pressure falls during pregnancy in the second trimester and may continue upto the third. As long as it is not below 100 systolic it is OK. Discuss this with your cardiologist as you may have to increase the dose again. Also do not worry as stress precipitates the arrythmia. You will do fine and it is only a few weeks now. Take rest and light diet and exercise and follow your cardiologist. You can also get a substitute drug if needed instead of metoprolol.
