Any Suggestion For Severe Pain In Knee Other Than Knee Surgery?
I had acl surgery right knee in 1996. The knee never stopped hurting but was very stable. I've had xrays that show osteoarthritis. Pain often can be felt at site of hardware. The pain in my knee is worsening. I can't run, can hardly walk up stairs, down stairs is harder. Horrible knee pain at night that can wake me from sleep. I don't want any more knee surgery. Suggestions? Alternatives?

Hi The treatment is decided according to stages of osteoarthritis. In early stages injecting hyaluronic acid, steroids all help but in late stages these conservative measures wont help. The only solution can be surgical arthroplasty. Have you done arthroscopy recently. An arthroscopy helps to give a final decision by orthopedician in your case. But if in x ray itself it is evident that you have severe joint space narrowing and cartilage destruction nothing other than arthroplasty can give you comfort.Hope this may help you. thanks
