My 9 month old baby is having epilepsy. She is taking levipil ( 1.5ml twice day ) and eptoin 1.7 ml twice. Levipil was started from the 8th after birth ( .6ml twice a day) and eptoin from the 28th day( 3 ml twice). The dosage has increased from the 7 month onwards. But the problems is epilepsy is not conrolled. Whenever if she is free from fits for one or 2 days she will be crying all the time. She cries after her every sleep. When fits attack, then she will be normal. But till now she dont have any developments. Can u sugest me an answe. I am much worried about her.
Epilepsy is a disease where you have to titrate the dose of the medicine to get a proper control of epilepsy. Hence dose to be increased till maximum suggested dose. If still the fits are not controlled, it is better to investigate the child. The child may need E.E.G and MRI scan to rule out organic brain disease. Further it is better the child be seen by a pediatric neurologist to rule out the possibility of child having pediatric epilepsy syndrome in which case the drug treatment is different.
