Are BC Pills Kept In Extreme Hot Temperature Safe For Consumption?

I, without realizing, have been leaving my birth control in my wallet that has been left in 90-100 degree temperatures in the car. my husband has been away on business for as long as I ve had this pack of birth control. I started new pills (kept inside the house) today and anticipate my husband being home in seven days. Will I be protected against pregnancy in seven days if the pills that were left in extreme temperatures were ineffective for a while? I was two weeks into the cooked pack.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern.
Extremes of temperature can reduce the efficacy (birth control) of combined oral contraceptive pills hence they need to be kept at optimal temperature.
Since it takes about 7 days or more for the combined oral contraceptive pills to prevent unwanted pregnancy, therefore a backup method of birth control like condoms or diaphragm is necessary and hence should be used for each sexual act.
Hope this answers your query.
Best wishes.
