Are Chest Pain And Extreme Sleepiness After Smoking Excedrin Serious?
My boyfriend smoked 3 pills of Excedrin to get high, and he started experiencing extreme sleepiness, suddenly he was very hot, and he is experiencing chest pains for the last hour. Do I need to get him to a hospital? I'm 700 miles away so I can't assess him physically. I've kept him talking and conscious.
Cannot say in his particular case. This is not a dangerous does in general but, then again, I've never heard of anyone smoking exhedrin. At the least, it is likely to be a serious lung irritant and the chest pain can be from that and would require emergency evaluation. At the worst, aspirin overdose causes fever, metabolic problems, and fatal acidosis. These would give as the first symptom of change in breathing, fever/feeling hot, and likely sleepiness or confusion. These are both reasons to go to the hospital.
