Hi, Noticing black flecks in urine lately. I m a 63 year old, white female. Complete hysterectomy in 2003. No history of UTI s. Wondering what causes this. Have been exposed to toxic, black mold but no longer in that environment. Many thanks, Donna
Black specks may be small gravel formed due to the precipitation of calcium carbonate in urine. There is a possibility that you may have large stone in kidney. Secondly it may be clotted blood passed during in urine. Third it may be due to UTI with epithelial cells. Advice 1. Drink 4 – 5 liters of uncontaminated water 2. Syrup alkaline citrate 2 teaspoonful three times daily 3. Investigations – R/E of urine, C/S of urine, X – ray KUB, USG abdomen Further action will be taken after reports of above recommended tests. Thanks
