Are cortisone shots helpful in treating a cracked rib? My 22 year old son is a college basketball player who cracked a rib 7 weeks ago. It was healing, he took a couple of weeks off initially, but he still has pain as he has teinjured it ( though not nearly as severely) a couple of times and is playing with pain. He is a senior and just wants to get through the season with less pain.
