Hello,
Dark brown urine may indicate liver disease due to the presence of bile in the urine. It happens when there is liver dysfunction due to infection, inflammation or enlargement. You are suggested to get all required investigations done like blood tests, lipid function tests, CT /
MRI, magnetic resonance
elastography,
liver biopsy to get a detailed study and confirm diagnosis so that treatment can be started at the earliest.
In the meantime, stop take alcohol or addictions if any. Switch to healthy lifestyle. Avoid food that is oily, fatty, spicy & hot. Avid junk food,
trans fat, full fat dairy products, red meat, refined flour, etc. You can take fresh home made food that is boiled with a dash of olive oil. Do not take fried food, it will trigger your symptoms and make you very ill. You should take food that is good for the liver, take liver tonics and plenty of water to detox. You need rest. Do not over exhaust yourself, do not take
stress or do any heavy work.
You need at least 8 hours sleep to help your
metabolism get back to normal. Take a lot of cooked veggies, fruits and berries. Take lean meat and small fish. Take well cooked whole cereals. Stay connected to your treating doctor and take Liver function tests once in 45 days to see your improvement. It will take a little time, but your liver will improve if you take proper prescription medicines by your treating doctor, switching to healthy eating habits. Do regular walking and stretch exercises.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
