Are Delayed Periods Due To Intake Of Iron Supplements?
Hello, my doctor told me I needed to start taking iron pills because I am anemic. I started taking the following : Barleans organic fish oil, l- lysine 500, vitron c high potency supplement, ferrets tablet 325 ferrous fumarate, country life women s daily, all once a day. I started taking them the same week my menstrual cycle was due. My cycle has not come yet which it s normally like clockwork. Could the supplements be the cause?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. What medications you are taking in the form of nutritional supplements, amino acid and mineral in the form of iron does not cause or related to delay in periods. They help in maintaining good health by correcting their deficiencies in conditions such as anaemia. Delay in periods could be due to some other cause such as hormonal imbalance, which needs to be evaluated by certain tests. Kindly consult Gynecologist in this regard for appropriate evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
