Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Diarrhea And Abdominal Cramps Symptoms Of Crohn S Disease?
I HAD A COLONOSCOPY DONE 5 MONTHS AGO. IT WAS NORMAL.THE LAST 7 WEEKS EACH TIME I EAT I RUN ABOUT 6-7 TIME A DAY LOOSE LIKE WATERY STOOL ALONG WITH CRAMPS. I HAD 3 STOOL CULTURES INCLUDING C-DIFF THAT WERE ALL NORMAL. I AM VERY NERVOUS ABOUT THIS. COULD I HAVE DEVELOPED SOMETHING LIKE COLITIS OR CRONES IN A SHORT TIME?
As per my clinical experience, there can be various reasons for abdominal cramps with diarrhea such as: - Infection with bug such as salmonella typhie - Issues with GI flora mechanics - Giardiasis - Side effect of certain drugs
Though stool culture is negative, I would suggest stool microscopy with PH, reducing substances , cyst or eggs.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
