Hello,
I can understand your concern. The symptoms related to ear like
ear pain, headache, swollen glands etc. can be related to the swimmers ear. However, the mouth pain and painful blisters on tongue do not fit into the explanation of the swimmers ear. It might be the case that the blisters on the tongue may have developed as side effects of the antibiotics your husband have been prescribed.
Usually antibiotics take about 24 to 36 hours to reach the desired level in blood to induce antibacterial effects. If your husband has just started the antibiotics, then I would advise you to wait for up to 48 hours for them to start effects. If more days have passed and the symptoms have not improved, then it is advisable to consult the ENT surgeon back and go for blood tests and culture of the ear swab to find out what bacteria have caused the infection and which antibiotics will work against them.
Regarding the tongue blisters, your husband should start taking Vitamin B complex and
folic acid supplements (B-Folcin) twice a day for about 10 days. In addition, local application of Benzocain gel (Mucopain) over the ulcerated areas will help in reducing pain, faster healing and comfortable eating. The blisters will heal in about a week.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish your husband feels better soon.
Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
