Hi,
Nordette contains Levonorgesterol and
Ethinyl estradiol as its composition. These are synthetic analogues of the natural hormones in the body that regulate the menstrual cycle. Estrogen and
progesterone are the two hormones secreted in the body that controls the phases of Menstrual cycle. Nordette is used as an oral
contraceptive pill to avoid pregnancy. This drug controls pregnancy by inhibiting the ovulation and release of egg, preventing the uterine endometrial development which accommodate the fertilized egg and changing the consistency of cervical mucus thereby preventing
sperm motility.
Side effects of the drug are nausea, vomiting,
stomach upset, headache, dizziness, breast tenderness, spotting, etc. Regurgitation also causes sore throat. Fever along with sore throat indicates infective etiology. It should be managed with appropriate medication. Withdrawal bleeding is seen after 3 days of stopping the oral contraceptives. Visit the gynecologist for further details and management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
