Are Headaches, Dizziness And Vaginal Discharge Symptoms Of Pregnancy?

Hi, I think i may be pregnant. I had sex 7 times with my boyfriend (over a course of 3 days) and we used condoms all the time, but it was during my best fertility days (may 7th, 8th and 9th). Im really stressing about this, ive been feeling nauseous and i have been having a lot of headaches lately (and some dizziness). Ive been feeling like this before too, but its more now, and my breast feel sore once in a while. Im supposed to get my period in a few days, but im wondering if Im pregnant. Also, ive been having a lot of vaginal discharge lately which is whiter than usual (and also about a week ago I think I had some blood spots on my underwear). Am I pregnant?

Hello,
After going through your question, I am of the opinion that:
1) Using condoms the right way has very low failure rate.
2) So, when you have protected sexual intercourse, there are very less chances of you getting pregnant.
3) However, it is too soon to tell if you are pregnant.
4) Your symptoms like headache, dizziness, vaginal discharge can be due to pregnancy, but can also be due to pre-menstrual syndrome (PMS)
5) If you want to find out, you can get a blood test called serum beta HCG which might be positive by 3 to 4 weeks.
6) However, my suggestion is to just wait for your periods to come. In case you miss them, you can get a home urine pregnancy test done and if that is negative, just wait for a few more days. Then you can go for the blood test.

I hope this was helpful.

Hallow Dear,

Condom is a very reliable contraceptive tool. If he has used condom correctly during all the sexual episodes, the possibility of pregnancy is very remote.

Moreover, you are yet to miss your period. The first cardinal symptom of pregnancy is missing a period. All other symptoms of pregnancy start appearing about a week after a missing a period. You have started experiencing some spotting also which could be an indication of starting the periods.

As it is you do get nauseating feeling, headaches and dizziness otherwise also. So you may not attribute them to pregnancy. You had quite frequent sexual relations during three days period. So some soreness in breasts could be due to the overhandling of the breasts.

However, you can confirm pregnancy status by:

1. Wait for periods to appear on the expected date. If you get menses, you are not pregnant. If you miss the period, wait for a week and then perform pregnancy test on overnight morning first urine sample; earlier the test may report false negative results.

2. Alternatively, you may opt for Beta hCG test on your blood 10 days after the last unprotected sexual intercourse. So you can do it after 19 May.

I hope this helps to resolve your dilemma.

Dr. Nishikant Shrotri
