I was diagnosed witha "dead" thyroid last April. Now my local doctor is telling me that I will eventually come off my medication. The specialist who diagnosed me in the hospital said that I would be on medication for the rest of my life. Do I need to find another doctor than my current one? Who is right?
Thanks for using healthcare magic.I understand your concern. According to me,thyroid medications should be continued life long if the hypothyroidism is primarily due to thyroid failure excepting few conditions like drug induced hypothyroidism to lead a healthy life.I would advise you to consult with an endocrinologist, who can confirm the actual diagnosis and solve your issue.Hope this information helps you.If any further question, happy to answer you.Take care.
