Are Nausea, Abdominal Bloating And Mood Swings Due To Missed Contraceptive Pills?

Hey all- My period is 1.5 weeks late and my last period was December 30-Jan 1. I have been taking tri-sprintec (generic ortho tri cyclen) for the past 3-4 years and have never missed a period. Before birth control my periods were regular (am 27 years old) and I never would have PMS symptoms I would notice.  In my January pack I missed a couple pills (one in first week, one or two in second in a row). I have done something similar before, but never had a change in my cycle.  I have been feeling different for the past 2, 2.5 weeks or so. Nausea, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, sore breasts (especially nipples and some darkening, hurt to the touch), bloated, up and down mood, strange cold symptoms and last week had HORRIBLE cramps at times on only my right side. This was all new - never experimented anything like it.  I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, one last Saturday and one yesterday morning and both were negative. First was Clearblue and second was First Response. Any ideas on what is going on?! Thank you!

Hello ma'am! Thank you for writing us here.
These symptoms are that of PMS which are quite normal sometimes they're exaggerated and sometimes not. There is a hormonal change in your body since you missed few pills and which resulted into symptoms like this. Your body is getting dependent on the pills and thus therefore not making enough hormones of its own. For your satisfaction, you can go for another pregnancy test in couple of weeks but it possibly is because of the hormonal imbalance.
