Are Recurring Spotting And Irregular Periods Suggestive Of Pregnancy?

Could I be pregnant? I am 25 yrs old. Me & my husband are TTC after 3yrs from a prior miscarriage. I do have irregular menstrual cycles. But I usely have it around the 11th of every month or possible a couple of days after that. So I indeed had my period March 11th threw March 14th. We started TTC a day or so after. Well.. I spotted very little on April 10th & 11th when i wiped sorry tmi. Then it stopped on April 12th. I have had no spotting nor period since April 11th. So I have done two pregnancy tests one on April 13th & another on April 19th. Both came back negative... My cervix position is high. (if that helps any) I haven t tested since then. I think may have some pregnancy symptoms.. Maybe. What I do not have is No nausea (to where I vomit), nor sore breast, but i do have some tiredness, bloating, sometimes queezy stomach aches, somewhat haveing to go pee more than often, and not sure if this is one but I do have bathroom issues as in #2. I was told that the two days I spotted could have been my menstrual but something just doesn t seem right. Well not normal. I ve been reading up on a book about ovulation and such. But im just wanting a second opinion of what someone else thinks. -Nicole ❤

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the spotting with irregular period while trying to conceive with previous history of miscarriage indicates hormone imbalance or altered physiologic homeostasis. These are not consistent with pregnancy signs and symptoms. In my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do recommend:
- TORCH panel evaluation
- Vaginal swab test to rule out underlying fungal or bacterial infection
- Ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis to evaluate condition of ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, adnexa showing any free fluid or so
- Blood tests for hemogram, hormone levels

In a nutshell, it is an algorithmic approach to the whole case for finding the root cause of menstrual disturbances, define strategies to fix it for fertility aspects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
