Are Severe Thirst, Frequent Urination And Fatigue Suggestive Of Diabetes?

Can Type 2 diabetes have a very quick onset of symptoms? My husband just had blood work done about 4 months ago without signs of diabetes, but over the last week he has had severe thirst and frequent urination along with heavy fatigue. He has complained of his vision being blurry (I just thought it was because he lost his glasses).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It is possible to develop type 2 diabetes quite rapidly.

If there is no coexisting infection like a urinary tract infection, which may present with increased urination, it is safe to assume that he may have developed type 2 diabetes since the symptoms match.

A glycosylated hemoglobin level would be an ideal investigation at this stage.
