Are Streaks Of Blood In The Vomit After Severe Vomiting Due To Migraine Normal?
Hi, I recently woke up due to a migraine and I usually have vomiting as a side effect and proceeded to throw up and then drank some water and tried to go back to bed but I ended up throwing up the water I had just drank but then I noticed that my vomit was bright red and that I was vomiting blood, so I used a mirror and a torch to look down my throat and the back looks like it s bleeding. I tried to sleep again but i had the urge to throw up again and I did and there was blood again but this time it was bright red blood with brown spots throughout it. Should I worry? This is the first time this has happened to me
Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM. Dear I read facts of your query and reviewed it in context to your health issues submitted. I understood your health concerns and feel Concerned about them. You seem to have pharyngeal vein rupture, Mucosal injury of the gastric cardia-Mallory Weiss Syndrome, from retching and vomitting of the Migraine. This is due to extreme increase in esophageal and pharyngeal mucosal pressures. Other causes of such bleeding with portal hypertension and others need to be ruled out. You need to take opinion from -GI endoscopist and Liver specialist doctor. For this to verify Second opinion from GI endoscopist and Liver specialist doctor - would be needed. Just don't worry and be patient and co-operate with your doctors, till you verify with your attending doctors.
Hope this would help you to treat your health issues in the best way possible.
