Are The Radiation Strandsaround The Nodule Of Lung Curable?
Hi doctor I m 33 year old breast feeding mother I delivered a baby boy this December I had GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus) and continued diabetes after delivery also now in April 30 I had a phlegm with blood then I consulted GP he said it must be some tiny blood vessel rupture so he prescribed few vitamin c chewable and medications with X-ray which was normal but again I got it after 5 days blood again he prescribed with antibiotics again I got blood then so again GP prescribed for CT SCan Now my CT SCan report says LUNG and PLEURA: Focal well defined 1.8cmx2cm soft tissue density nodule seen adjoining the left crura left base lung . Few radiation strands seen around the nodule Please suggest me what this could be is it curable or is it cancerous I m worried this could be any serious as I m emotionally worried for my baby who is 5.5 months old
A 2 x 1.8 cm lesion is very small to be characterised with confirmation. If you have cough and blood in sputum for few days then most likely its an infection and should get treated by a course of antibiotics. The infection is more likely if your blood sugar levels are reasonably high. If you do not have significant weight loss or lumps elsewhere in your body then the chance of a cancer is less. If needed a repeat X ray chest may be done after a course of antibiotics. Please ask your doctor necessary information regarding breast feeding your son when taking medicines.
