Are The Results S.Typhi-O =1:160, S.Typhi-H=1:160 A Cause Of Alarm For The Second Time?

Hi Doctor, I had contracted Typhoid 3 weeks back , the blood reports then indicated, S.Typhi-O =1:160, S.Typhi-H=1:160 , I had immediately started antibiotic treatment through I V upon my doctors advice then , since then the fever had subsided after 1st week, and we again had a test , the results now being S.Typhi-O =1:160, S.Typhi-H=1:80, after this the doctor had asked me to continue with mahacef tablets , since then I had started feeling a lot better and fitter. However what is confusing though is that I again had a test today after the 3rd week just to make sure it has subsided, but to my shock the test now indicated the values to be S.Typhi-O =1:160, S.Typhi-H=1:160 , which were the values when I tested the first time. How is this possible?? Does this mean I have not recuperated at all??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. This is the most common mistakes many patients do. Unless you know why would you do this test again. Dear , the test may come positive up to 6 months after you have contacted typhoid and got cured also. What is important is improvement on clinical and personal basis. So now do not repeat the test until you get same symptoms. I advise my patients with typhoid to get three weeks of treatment to get cure. Continue your treatment and be assured .
