Are There Any Contradictions If Celexa And Pacemaker Used At Same Time?

What should an 83 year old woman weighing approximately 85 lbs, consider when abruptly stopping Methazolamide, consider unusual symptoms. She has a pacemaker, and the Dr. has also put her on Celexa within the last 2 weeks and she is not feeling well. Are there any contradictions if she is on both.

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. There is no contraindication to use Celexa in a patient that has a pacemaker in place. The only issue with celexa is that of increasing the QT interval (one of the electrical periods of the heart electrical function), but this is quite rare and happens in patients with multiple medical problems, multiple medications and multiple electrolyte abnormalities.

Hope this helps, wish you the best,
