The use of HCG drops have been reported to cause a weight loss and some literature claim this loss in the range of 2-4 ponds per day. But these reports are not supported by any documentation of scientific evaluation. In fact some of the reports claim no effect of HCG drops on weight. Also, use of HCG is not approved by FDA for weight loss.
Similarly, there is no study to prove that use of HCG drops may cause kidney failure. Definitely, due to metabolism of increased amount of protein, kidney might have to work harder as well as due to excretion of increased amount of urea (A bi-product of protein metabolism) a large amount of water may also be excreted from the body to clear the increased urea. This may cause the body to feel somewhat lethargic. However, the reports of association of HCG drops with kidney failure seem somewhat exaggerated.
