Are There Any Exercises To Reduce The Pain And Swelling Which Started After ORIF Surgery For Humeral Fracture?
5-6 years ago, I had a proximal humeral fracture with subsequent ORIF surgery and extensive physical therapy. I am a pianist and cannot play music that requires 180 deg repetitive ROM with immediate pain and swelling. Are there any exercises, interventions I can employ to reduce/mitigate this problem? Thank you.
Certain amount of stiffness is inevitable after ORIF for a proximal humeral fracture.Persistent pain and swelling after activities at the site of surgery is not a good sign and might be due to either impingement due to the implants or an underlying infection.
So, a detailed evaluation is needed to establish the cause of your pain & swelling (occuring even after 5 years of surgery). In certain instances, Arthroscopy might be helpful to release any intraarticular adhesions, if present.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
