Are There Any Negative Interactions Between Medicines For Cholesterol And BP?

I am a 67 yr. old female with a family history of CAD. 10 yrs. ago I had a stent and angioplasty. Recently I began having shortness of breath, chest pain, jaw pain on both sides that literally stopped me in my tracks. My family physician prescribed isosorbide mononitrate ER 60 mg today. I am waiting on a call from the cardiologist who put the last stent in. He is supposed to call me today, of not, my family physician wants me to go back in on Monday. Meanwhile, he suggested I limit my activities. He did an EKG, it looked good. He also did a chest xray to see size of my heart. I don t know those results. He said if I experience above symptoms that last longer than 5 minutes to call 911. I take cholesterol med., high BP meds, Zoloft and Xanax and Metropopol (sp) at night to relax heart muscle. Is it safe to mix those meds? My doctor had said earlier this morning that he was going to prescribe Plavix, but did not. Thank you for your time and opinion. God bless!

Hello,

Xanax is associated with multiple problems such as increased falls. BUT, those medications are USUALLY used together. They do not have interactions per se.

Stopping Xanax, metoprolol but only rarely isosorbide suddenly can produce panic attacks that seem like a heart. But only if stopped.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
