Hi, I've took Levonelle One Step at 5/12 (about 13h after intercourse). I didn't felt any side effects as for first 5 days. However on the 9/12 my method of contraception failed again and then on 10/12 in the morning I experienced a bleeding which can't be really my period as my period isn't due till 20/12. So I went to local pharmacy again to seek out for advice as I wasn't sure whether i can take another Levonelle and whether the 1st one I took will be still effective. The woman at the pharmacy said it's alright, however after reading stuff on the internet i'm not really sure about that. Was it safe to take another one and if it's still will be effective? and more importantly after I started bleeding at 10/12 it's still hasn't stopped yet. How long it will last and is it dangerous? and whether second Levonelle I took wouldn't make it worse?
The bleeding you are experiencing is due to the effect of emergency contraceptive. It is nothing to be worried about. You can safely take a second dose of levonelle if needed. It will be effective.
