Are There Any Vaccinations Which Are Not Supposed To Be Taken During Pregnancy?

I m just about to book a holiday for the last week in January to Gambia. At the moment i m also trying to get pregnant. Are there any vaccinations I shouldn t have? Would you advise that I didn t go to Gambia just in case I am pregnant or am I worrying to much?

Hi, Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar here. I welcome you to HCM HCM VIRTUAL CLINIC. I have gone through your question, and I think I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

I will suggest you not to take any live attenuated vaccine, especially the viral one. If it is possible to postpone your travel, it will be better to avoid this journey. As it carries risk of various infections and not all are preventable through vaccination and can be risky for pregnancy.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
