Are Tightness In The Left Shoulder Blade And Repair In The Heart Related?

Hi there, just wondering if I should be concerned about this. Last nite, my left shoulder seizes kind of on me. It literally takes my breathe away and there is nothing I can do till it goes away, no position or anything. Although I was laying down and sat up on the edge of the bed. I have had this about 8 times before, no reason at all for it to happen. Makes my left arm super heavy and there is no way to hold except not to move or try not to. It brings me to tears. Usually it will go away in 10 minutes or so. Today, I feel a tightness all on my left side around my shoulder blade and it is coming into my chest, a squeezing so to speak. I am 48 and have a history of some TIA s when I was 40, but I had a PFO closure put in to repair the whole in my heart. I only take Effexor, 37.5 mg a day.

Hi,

Yes, they are related and you should work with your cardiologist regarding that as if your heart if normal then tightness should remain for so long.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
