Are Tsh Level Of 4.41 Uiu/ml And Cholesterol 226 Mg/dl Normal?
I am male aged 42 years living in India. My lab reports show the following: T3 - 99.83 ng/dL T4 - 9.69 ug/dL TSH - 4.41 uIU/mL Cholesterol 226 mg/dL Triglycerides 74 mg/dL HDL Cholesterol 52 mg/dL LDL Cholesterol 159 mg/dL VLDL Cholesterol 15 mg/dL TC/HDL Cholesterol Ratio 4.35 RATIO LDL/HDL Ration 3.1 RATIO about 20 years ago I got into depression. When I reflect upon it now, it was due to my inability to cope up with the adolescent changes which was confusing me and could not concentrate on my studies also. While on treatment I had also to take Synthetic Thyroid Hormone for some period. Later it was stopped. In between my thyroid levels were tested as advised by the doctor and was normal. I stopped all psychiatric medicines about 7 months back and I feel perfectly ok now. The doctor was keeping on changing the medicines when he used to listen to my emotional and psychological problems. In fact the medicines were doing more harm to me. To be on the safe side I am taking some Ayurvedic medicines to improve my brain functioning. Yesterday I got my blood tested for sugar, cholesterol and kidney function test. Only my chlorestrol and TSH show some variance as per the reference range given in the lab report. Are the results given above normal? it was taken on 24.08.2011. I have good appetite but am lean now at 52 kgs. Few years back I was 60 kgs. I am prone to stress and sometimes have difficulty in recollection/concentration. I am trying to overcome these naturally by being more aware of myself.
Welcome to HCM, I am not going to go into this extensively but your thyroid is not working adequately which will cause your lipids to go up. Once your thyroid is treated and back to functioning normally , your lipids will go down. Retest your lipids after your thyroid normalizes to determine if there is a residual problem, but I doubt it.
Mental clarity should improve once your thyroid is normalized.
Hello there. Your message thyroid profile is normal but your cholesterol is on the higher side. Also your LDL cholesterol is very high which is not good. If I was your physician I would put you on an HMG COA reductaseinhibitor like simvastatin or atorvastatin. I hope that answers your question.
