Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Are Unnatural Hoarding Of Things And Repetitive Nature Suggestive Of A Disorder?
My husband is a hoarder and is very repetitive in his actions. He is much more attached to ridiculous inanimate objects ( used face razors- for example) then people. He has always behaved this way. Everyone has just said its a family thing. He is 60 years old? I am at witts end. What type of Dr. Do I take him to for an evaluation.
These symptoms would be consistent with a psychiatric disorder called Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist for further evaluation and to be started on treatment, which can help minimize the symptoms of this disorder.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
